IH Scout Axles on a Zuk?

This Question is for a friend of mine that wants to put IH Scout Dana 44's under his Zuk. We were out at the junk yard and seen two Scouts that had good looking axles under them.one is 68 and the other is around the 70's. I just was wondering, has anyone done a swap with these axles before? Will they work and how hard would it be to swap? We could get them for $200 front and rear. Also, are the axles strong, I know that they are better then the stock ones but my friend is a bit hard on his truck and I can see him braking a axle with the stuff that he does. Thanks for any info.

Re: IH Scout Axles on a Zuk?

stock scouts first came with front d44 in 74 . however some 74 still have d30. if the 68 is stock. the axles are 44rear and d27 or d30 front. they started putting d44 rear in early to mid 60s. you will be best going with a 75 or later which all had d44 front and rear. i have had scouts with both 44s and 30s up front and never had any trouble. strong as hell. i had a 345 and 304 v8s in mine, with the 4 little rats under a zuk hood you will probably never break anything.
