Renovated wheels and a question!
While performing the routine, annual maintenance on my 1991 tintop Geo Tracker, I decided to renovate the old chrome wheels -- which long ago lost their luster. It was pretty easy, only time consuming. First, removing the rust, then two coats of Rustoleum metal primer, then two coats of Rustoleum oil-based aluminum. Looks like new. Here are the before and after shots.
Among other things, I also replaced the rear shocks. I got 75,000 miles out of the old ones, so no complaints.
While I had the rear of the car up on jacks, I had to turn the car ON. It was in neutral, of course. What surprised me was that the rear wheels were turning -- SLOWLY -- even though the car was in neutral (MANUAL transmission, FYI). When I turned the car off, the wheels stopped rotating, of course, and I could easily turn them by hand.
Can someone give me a simple explanation for this?
