Yes they have an interlock switch on the clutch, It is up under the dash I think. That and you should make sure
the wires to the starter are tight, (You may also want to smack the starter with a small hammer to try to seat
the brushes if they are worn, (Note: Not really hard mind you! this is a diagnostic step not a fix.) )
