well back again i just bought a 87 rx 7 that was wrecked, going to put the motor and trans in the h.t. my wife was complaining about the seats in the 87 jx. asked here how she liked the seats in the mazda, she like them so i put them in. did the passenger first a bit of work, took a hour had to weld the inside suzuki rail and ad 1. in. spacer on tunnel side but the drivers side i drilled the hole bigger in the front bolted on the suz rails and drilled 2 holes in the back, took 15 min. mike

Well there are several that I have heard of, and Im sure many that I havent.
Geo Metro (Suzuki Swift) seats are pretty easy, as well Esteem seats. I've heard that Chevy S-10 seats work as well as RCI Racing seats.
Im personnally looking at some Metro ones.

Re: seat swaps - ideas needed

I mounted Jeep seats on the original seat tracks, this way I didnt have to cut any mounts or fabricate anything, plus the seat is still adjustable. You can get used Jeep for next to nothing or brand new ones from BestTop for under $100 apiece. They are about the same dimentions, so you dont have to worry about them being too bulky. Also, alot of the other seat options use cloth seats, but vinyl seats would be better if you see any mud or get caught in the rain without your top, the cloth will take forever to dry, but if you wheel out west the vinyl will get hot!

Re: seat swaps - ideas needed

I've installed SAAb900 seats, very confortable, large and heating for winter. Just weld the new rails, easy swap if you have a welder.
