R & P backlash

I have about an inch of backlash when I rotate my driveshaft going into my rear diff. Any idea how to fix this problem.

Re: R & P backlash

When I installed My locker and tore down another rear end I found that all the spider gears thrust washers were desentigrated (worn out),
My suggestion is to remove the rear diff and replace the thrust washers in the rear spider gears.
Now if you get in there and all the backlash is in your gears, ie gears munched, let me know, I've got 4 sets (pair) of 3.73 R+P I'll get rid of for cheap.
