I have a slow but bad leak, iread on these forums a while back that an aged water pump could be the problem. The description made it look like that may be my
problem. I need to know how to check mine to see if that is the problem. thanks.

Re: leak

there's a seepage hole on the top and on the bottom of the pump. for a couple of years i could smell coolant when i lifted the hood on my 89 sidekick but could not find the leak. the hole on top was clean and dry. while under the engine doing service i saw the lower hole. it was crusted with dried coolant. it's difficult to see, but may be your problem.
