Question 31's on 97 4dr DD?

I've installed a 3" suspension lift on my 97 4dr DD. With the 1.6L it is doing well with old 30's (closer to 29's at this age).

--Is there enough poop in this engine to push 31/10.5's on a regular basis?

--Am I in danger of hurting anything besides the gas mileage?

--And here's my main concern: is there much difference in traction compared to the narrower 30's? I'm expecting to run BFG AT's as they look great for the snow I am expecting us to get this year here in BC. Is the extra width going to be a problem taking into consideration the light weight of the tracker.
