93 GEO Alternator / Charging Problem
This started a couple of days ago. I live in Mid-Michigan and we've had plenty of snow. Driving home from work my voltmeter would show a drop in voltage, down to 10 and less volts, lights would dim. A few seconds to minutes later, voltage would be back up to normal and lights would be okay. This may hapen only once, or sometimes more often. This morning it happened 4 times in about 7 miles. After putting up with this 3 days in a row and not wanting to end up stranded on the way to or from work, I opened the hood to see what I could find. Found SNOW everywhere. It was on top of the battery, but my concern was the way it was packed around the alternator which sits so low in the engine compartment. This vehicle was not off roaded, but I do live in the country and the last snow fall was anywhere from 6 to 12 inches. Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a solution, other than moving to where there was no snow?
