1996 1.6 16v in a samurai

I was just wondering how hard it would be and what all would be involved to put a 96 1.6 16v MFI into a 1988 Samurai. I know the 8v are easier but I have the whole Tracker. I was going to sell the motor but if no one is interested I may go ahead and swap it. The samurai is all stock. Any info will help.

Thanks,
Mike

Thumbs up 16V swap

Try these; 16-valve A/T Samurai
Aftermarket4x4.com...Your Suzuki Specialists - Scroll down to Aaron's 16Valve swap.
This should keep you busy reading for a few minutes. It is definitely worth the effort.
Here's another if you are interested in doing your own harness.

Ask a lot of questions, many of us have done this many times. You get all the help you need.

Thanks for the info, I think I will use the Samurai tranny. I don't want to cut on the hump. I would like to do this low budget, so I will try to do the harness myself.

Budget?

How low do want to go? https://forums.off-road.com/suzuki-ge...6-install.html

You can make your own adapter( see link above,8V&16V blocks are the same bolt pattern), modify your own harness, make a 2" exhaust w/turbo muffler. you will be smog legal, provided you were before the swap. If you have any problems just ask! There are many people who have done this many times and most are willing to help

That's pretty cool. I plan on buying an adapter. I may go with the Trail Tuff stuff, I like what I have read about them on the forums. I am working on a tracker at this time, but will do the samurai next.

Thanks again,
Mike

You'll never go wrong dealing with Brent and Linda, NEVER!!

I heard I was getting a sweater for Christmas. Too bad, I was hoping for a moaner or a screamer.
