Engine advice needed

i have a 1997 suzuki vitara and the engine is kinda broke...i wanna replace it its a 4 cylender 8v ....any idea if i can equip it with a 1.8L 4cyl 16v engine ?

the gear is automatic with 3 speed...does it matter or no ?...
and its a carburator engine


can the new engine have a fuel inj ? or no ?...

Anything is possible, just depends on your fabricating and tinkering skills.

That said, unless you have a 1.8 ready to go, I would pick the 2.0L over the 1.8 (no replacement for displacement).

My suggestion? Drop the 2.7 Grand Vitara motor with the 4spd auto into your Vit. If you're going to do custom stuff, might as well go all the way.
