One good reason why i can't get the axle shaft out

I have a front diff from a sidekick i broke a while back. I'm trying to get the left axle out. It say's to use a rubber malet or slidehammer. I have been trying for the last 20 min to pull it with my slidehammer. No luck. Any reason it would get hung up? Help Please i need the 5.12 gears For my sammy if still good.

a slide hammer will ***SOMETIMES*** remove a tracker axle. is the housing/3rd member out of the truck? if so, it makes it much simpler. if it is in the truck, you will want to unbolt the outter axle shafts so you only have the triangle 3bolt flange at the end of the housing. what i use is a 3-5lb sledge hammer to knock em out. it takes a little more umpfff than a lot of folks realize. couple of good swings with a sledge should bring it right outta there.

X2.

With the axle unbolted from the flange, with a dead blow, hit it like your first girlfriend.
