Are the 1600 16v &the 1600 8v the same block

I have a 1600 16v and i want to start running propane. I have read it's only possible to do with the 8v. The 16v needs to be rebuilt so can i just put an 8v head on it.

Don't quote me, but I believe they are the same blocks and cranks, but you'd need to check the FSM for specs.

I think the 16V crank is different. From what I've read its the same size bearings but has improved balancing/counter weighting. The 8V and 16V have different piston cutouts although I've know a couple of people that have run the 8V head on a 16V with no problems.
