Question Vacuum hoses

Hey all, been a while since posting any messages, but need some help again. Got an 88 1/2 Samurai and need to change all the vacuum hoses due to heat stress, dry rot and old age. There are around 15 or more different ones connected to the carb, air filter, EGR valve, and other places. They also have different numbers on them which I am assuming determine the diameter of the hose. Before I go off on a wild goose chase to all the local auto parts stores looking for the right sizes, I was wondering if anyone knows if anyone sells a complete vacuum hose set for the Samurai? I haven't found anything yet on some of the sites I have looked at online. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

I don't think anyone sells a kit but for the most part they are all the same size. There may be a couple random other ones but most are the same. Jim

Vacuum hoses.

Nope. No hose kit that I am aware of...

If you do a search for vacuum, you'll find a page mapping out all the Hitachi carburetor hoses. Edit: D-A Alert! That's a search for vacuum at Ack's FAQ (see link below)...

Most auto parts stores sell vacuum hoses in bulk. The odd short pieces are a bit more trouble, but you can usually come up with something that works.

Tip: If you have a "Pick-N-Pull" salvage yard near you - and it has a Samurai or two, you can usually grab those special short hoses off the carb for the mere price of admission ($1-2.00)! With that in mind, be sure to grab anything else that is small off the truck while you are there. Items include:

Inside door handles
Dash Illuminator control
Lighting fixture lenses

Like that...

Hope this helps!

Thanks Ack and also Jim. I'll go buy some hose and set about the replacement process. Also, the FAQ link is great info on your page Ack and the diagrams are a lot of help as well. Happy wheelin'
