Carb problems..

Im on here for a buddy of mine. 87' Sammy keeps blowin main gasket on the carb. Not sure exactly where... Lookin to do a carb swap. Weber is cheap and easy, but you gotta pick if you wanna die goin up hill, or if your goin down... Heard a ford Ranger carb would work but thats got just as much wiring B.S. as the stock sammy.... Any alternative suggestions would be Fantastic!!! Thanks

Re: Carb problems..

You can also try the Toyota carb found on 1600cc engines like those found in '70s corollas. There is an install article at Ack's FAQ (a link is in my signature below) by Tim Tackett.

Do a search for toyota carb to find the article.

Hope this helps!

Re: Carb problems..

Thanks for all the replies guys! That Yota carb sounds interesting... I'll look into that. Turns out he got the Weber off of an old 4 cyl. CJ... Geuss he's gotta choose if he's going up the hill or down!

Re: Carb problems..

I know a guy that took one off a VW 1800cc motor and put it on his stock Sammy motor. He had to fabricate a mounting plate though.
