Re: fuel economy on the X-90??

Well first of all, she should probably just dump it and put it on a truck to Utah for me. I'll take it off her hands...

Seriously, you probably need to get a bunch more info concerning the car's condition but I would start by ensuring the exhaust system hasn't gotten plugged or crimped or the cat converter blocked. The auto tranny would be next, I'd have it checked for fresh fluid and the proper amount of fluid and whether it seems to be slipping.

How 'bout a stuck/frozen parking brake?

Any other symptoms? Hard starting, poor idle, timing belt recently replaced, never had a fuel filter change?

I'd start by having the exhaust system checked for blockages if it were me.

Re: fuel economy on the X-90??

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't actually driven it so I don't know exactly what the symptoms are, she just told me that she is getting really bad fuel economy so I figured I would post it to the experts. I'll have her follow your suggestions and see what happens. I'll also check it for the other symptoms you had mentioned. Thanks again.

I wonder if the check engine light is on? Could be an O2 sensor... Could be leaking gas from the tank... Could need new spark plugs...
