90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

I just noticed on PartsAmerica that they sell a 75 and 90 amp alternator for the Track/Kick AND Samurai! Any confirmations on this? $186 for the Samurai and $154 for the Track/Kick. I can't believe I haven't come across this before.

I've been a member of the "GM 12SI alternator woes club" for some time: belt squealing, broken brackets, etc. Not to mention the 94 amp 12SI is notorious for poor output at idle and tends to live a short life for numerous reasons.

Maybe it's time to go back to Suzuki...

Re: 90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

I believe the Alternator from a KL Mazda engine bolts straight on and is about 90-100amp. Finding a second hand one of these would be a lot cheaper.

Re: 90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

Well over here (Australia) the KL engine is a 2.5L V6 that came in the early-mid 90's Mazda 626 and i think the MX6.
Do not know if you get them over there but thats what we use here.

Re: 90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

I think in the USA a Maxda MX6 is the same as a Ford Probe under the skin. Maybe another possible source?

Re: 90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

The early MX-6's were Mazda. I believe the last ones produced were what Daxe said.

Re: 90 Amp Suzuki alternator!!!

Not to un-hijack the thread back from Mazdas, but...

I've also found 90 Amp Samurai alternators for about $100 at www.rockauto.com. Seems to be the best price going for a true drop-in hi amp alt.

Does anyone here have experience with these?
Do they really just bolt in?
Wouldn't we need to uprgade the fusible link?
Were these a factory option?

Please share...
