idle - surging - already checked the archives

I have an idle surging (700-1800) problem and sometimes the idle drops so low that the bugger shuts off. I checked the archives and popular opinion is that it is a thermal wax ball. Unfortunately I cannot find it. When I pull off the mentioned plate (2 screws on mine) it appears to be a water jacket plug in the TB. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even my inde mechanic is at a loss.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I THINK the wax pellet issue only applies to single throttle body injectors. Yours is multiport injection. I've heard of the Heated Oxygen Sensor causing this problem, as well as week connections in the ignition system. Hope you find the problem!
By the way, my '95 is also purple!

Thanks Lil_Red. I think I'm at the point where I need to purchase a manual for the ODB I codes and do a check. I will definately check the O2 sensor.

Thanks, again

Re: idle - surging - already checked the archives

Have you done any work on the cooling system lately?? I had the same problem on my 92 EFI Sami one time after I had changed the anti freeze. Apperently the Sami can get an air bubble in the system. When it goes past the temp sender it shuts the engine down temporarily, when the water hits it again the engine starts to run again and causes the engine to surge. It drove me crazy till I found the problem.
Maybe you are having the same problem.
Later ...Harry...
