Shut off Check Engine Light on a Tracker/Sidekick?

Hello. I have had several Samurai's, and I know how to shut off the check engine light on those, but I can't seem to be able tofind the switch on my 1992 Tracker I just bought. Is there a switch, or if not, how do I shut off the check engine light? Thanks everybody!

I'm guessing you know to disconnect the battery to reset/clear codes.....if they come back....the problem is not resolved.....but I thought I'd mention it just in case....

I have no idea if those rigs have a switch like the Sammy does.....

See you are on the East side of STL....I lived there for 12+ years....on the MO. side, out west in O'Fallon.

Cosmo;

Thanks for the fast reply! No, I didn't know about the battery. Just disconnect it for how long? That will re-set the light if there is not a problem? Let me know. Thanks.

Re: Shut off Check Engine Light on a Tracker/Sidekick?

Oh heck I dunno a specific time....but to be safe disconnect it for a few minutes and the code will clear....IF it comes back you still have the problem. Check for vacuum leaks....those damn things will wreak havoc with my Samurai....may do the same with your rig.

Seems I read something about Suzuki's having the check engine light come on at certain mileage intervals to make ya check emissions stuff....even if nothing is wrong....I will look for that and let ya know if I can find it.

Is your odometer at an even mileage?????

The Trackers have the switch near the steering column. Some are behind the speaker to the left of the steering column. Mine was nearly on the steering column on the side towards the speaker.

Lil Red;

Thanks for the tip! I found it behind my left front speaker, flipped the switch, and no more check engine light! Thanks for taking the time to help me out, I appreciate it!

Hey Sarge how you doing? Sold it to a friend of mine who wheeled it for awhile, and then traded it on a softtop. Not sure of it's curent location, hopefully somebody is still enjoying it! Take care, talk to you soon.
