WHY?

I just don't understand some people.

Me & Chris go to one of the local custom shops to buy a Toyota hi-steer from some guy thats doing a samurai build up. He got it from one of the vendors & it came with all the wrong tie-rod ends. Instead of dealing with the vendor--he sells it to Chris for almost nothing.

It is a very sweet zuk, he's spent more on parts than I've spent on my whole rig.
Jp eater kit w/ new leafsprings
Toys with 5.29s & disc brakes in rear
new driveshafts ft & rr
6 to 1s with a mighty kong
35" Krawlers with fake-locks
bumpers ft & rr with all led lights & HID headlights
hydro-assist steering

Anyways, this is a partial list. But getting back to the point......... We had a 4-wheel ride for toys to help the needy kids. Donate a toy & go riding all day. It was a big event with a good turnout, it was in the paper & on the news. The day of the ride I showed up in my Cherokee & dude's samurai was one of the ones parked by the road with the banners tied to it.

After the raffle & stuff everyone got ready to ride. We had a police escort through town all the way to the trailhead. (that was a first!!) We start heading up the trail & guy parks the samurai & hops in with someone else!!! I pulled up and asked him why he wasn't taking the samurai on the ride. His reply---------he didn't want to get it SCRATCHED UP.

You've got to be F'n kidding me!!!!!

I should've known. The lights & coffee can exhaust should've tipped me off. What is this world coming to??? A man builds a perfectly capable off-roader but doesn't want to scratch it. Never in my F'n life........................

Just had to rant.

I'll get some pics. of it & post 'em up.

Brad.

Re: WHY?

Brad, So what? Don't let it twist your knickers...keep in touch with the guy so when he gets tired of it you can buy it for nothing

Don't be mad at the guy, be happy he's preserving a nicely built zuke until you're ready for it. Would you rather buy his or one that's had the snot wheeled out of it

Re: WHY?

my very first zuk is fully built and i keep it in storage. it is nothing more than a show toy for me. the main reasons are it is near perfect from socal and it has never seen a winter. it is set up the way i want it but i refuse to drive it much anymore because i am having trouble getting auto insurance to give me full coverage on appraised replacement value. if it was to get hit by one of the thousands of illeagal tex/mex drips now living here i don't want to get a lousy check for kelly blue book value of $500. i want to be able to have another showroom condition zuk built with the same mods and built gti engine as the one i have. just the built motor alone would cost nearly 4 times the amount of kelly blue book value for the whole samurai. i just want true replacement value. auto insurance companies really hate insuring zuks so it has been a challenge.

this might sound odd but the are no zuks in minnesota that are not chock full of rust and corrosion. this would mean that finding a mint replacement body would require shipping by truck. the insurance company would rather replace a mint built zuk with cheaper alternatives that they feel are comparable..such as crappy $500 isuzu troopers and such. it is to their discrecion as to what kinds of vehicals they feel are comparable.

another reason i don't wheel it is i don't want to destroy it. i have a trail only zuk that gets the balls beat out of it and looks like it went through a garbage disposal. i like wheeling hard so built a bomber zuk for that very purpose.
