Re: Starting to make some progress!!!

Just a note to say it looks good,,,, I created a four link for the rear of my 67 Jeepster a few years ago that from first glance looks almost the same as yours, angles and lengths, ect.... If so then you will love the setup. I set mine up with that double diamond shape instead of the normal parralell lower bars and there is almost no rear steer and the road maners are great. Good luck with the setup, Aaron

PS, Just visiting from the Jeepster board,,, but I do have a 88 soft top, bone stock....

[/ QUOTE ] Thank you for the compliment and my words exactly for the double traingulated rear set up. I did not want to run a panhard for the rear. There should be little to no rear steer with this set up!! Just going to have to run a Limiting strap for the rear!!!! and if you look close you will see the bolt is already ready for the limiting stap.... Thank you grumpy for posting the pics!!!

Re: Starting to make some progress on the 4 link!!!!

By the way these are Toyota Land cruiser axles. From an 88 FJ62 I have had lots of emails on what they are. There is a nice write up on them on Pirate also from a guy who has helped me with info. And NO I am not affraid of the c clip rear.

Re: Starting to make some progress on the 4 link!!

Tom, nice looking work. Did you give any thought to the latest trend of 3-link? You're almost there now with your setup, if the 2 top links were welded together and connected to 1 bushing on the axle instead of 2 you'd have the latest TJ designs. My son had a 4 link similar to this and had problems with the bushings. Does anyone consider when designing the links and mounting locations that the top links are in tension and the bottoms in compression? You'd think that would make a difference but I sure wouldn't know what.
