Thank you veterans!

Thanks to all who have worn the uniform, whether it was during peace or war.
I know there are quite a few of you on here.
There is nothing you could be more proud of than protecting freedom!!
Please let the troops, especially at war complete their jobs safely, watch over the souls of the ones who have fallen, and let the rest of us who take our freedom lightly take a moment of our day to realize what pains others have gone through so we may have them.

Re: Thank you veterans!

Thanks. Nice to know that we are still thought about. Being over here in Germany, it sometimes feels like we are forgotten. I am still in and a Vet of Operation Enduring Freedom. I spent almost a year in Afghanistan. So once again, THANKS!

Re: Thank you veterans!

Smitty & all, thanks. I watched Saving Private Ryan again last night and the final scene, where Ryan returns to Europe to salute the marker of the Captain that died trying to save him again brought tears to my eyes.

I did 21 years in the USAF and considered it a privilege to wear the uniform and perform the work. Its not the same as those guys that saved Europe in WW2 by a long shot but I guess I did something that needed doing. I spent a year in Korea and got to see both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia after GW1. Today while retired from the military, I still support front line fighters in F16 jets by trying to deliver to them the upgrades to keep their jets modern and maintainable.

Its hard to see myself in the same light as those "old" guys at the VFW hall but I guess I am. And I appreciate your kindness on Veterans Day.

Re: Thank you veterans!

I spent 13 yrs in the Marine Corps and have been in every "Action" since 1986. I have lost many of my brothers. I thank you for the recognition, they gave their lives....I am no hero by far, but all of my fallen brothers are.
Semper Fi Y'all....The Marine Corps B-Day was on the 10th, and I had a beer with all of my fellow Marines. I draped a black cloth over one table, with a white Marine Corps cover, crossed white gloves, and a black candle to honor those Marines who have made the ultimate sacrafice. My first toast went to my fallen breatheren, and all joined in. PLEASE, never forget those who have given their lives for you, all the way back to the Revolutionary War. If someone kicks sand in our faces, we collectively beat the bully down. This is not to prove ourselves, only to take a stand, and not let ourselves be pushed around. I say to all of you, be proud to be an AMER ICAN!

I beg to differ...if you have worn the uniform...you are my hero.
I would have if I could....but things in my life at the time kept me from it, and I have regretted it ever since

Re: Thank you veterans!

Thank you smitty,
A hero in my eyes is a postumous award. I am still among the living, however I would gladly trade my life for most of thiers. Most of them left behind much more than I have now, and I know thier children would appriciate it...Semper Fi once again..
