Need to get my draglink cut down+threaded - Mass

Hey guys,

Well I went and finnaly hooked up my All pro high steer I got from Brent at TT. Problem is my draglink is too long evern with the tire rod ends screwed in all the way. I need about 1/2 inch cut off on each side. I was going to to do it myself but realized I'd run out of threads on the inside of it. Is there anywhere in Mass and/or CT that will do this? I really don't want to send it back to Allpro in CA.

Thanks,

Koko

when I had that problem I was able to cut the 1/2" of each side and still have enough thread to screw in the tie rod ends, my link was tapped pretty deep

I don't think mine was tapped that deep. The TRE's only screw in so far. They're still sticking out about 1/4 inch of thread on each. Thats what made me think if I cut it down, I'd need to get it threaded some more.

Cut the side that is tapped with RH thread . Then buy the tap and hit it . If not FoxFab might be able to do it and he is in NH or VT I think . Or Shakerbuilt could do it . Then it would only take a few days to ship down and then back up .. personally I would use this as an excuse to buy more tools

I'll give Foxfab a buzz he's in CT and is in a club I'm in..Jonfund. I know he's pretty busy with getting ready for the Neuroc finals next weekend. Good idea on the excuse for tools. Where' the hell do you buy a tap that big?

I know welding steering components isn't great but why couldn't you cut a section out of the draglink?? Maybe you could find a piece of tubing with an i.d. that would fit the o.d. of the draglink and weld it up?? Oh well.......it's late and this is probably a bad idea.

Just cut a 1/4" off of the tre's. You will not harm them and if it lets you screw them in all the way you are set.
Just dress up the threads with a file. (TRE"S are not really expensive so if you screw up buy new ones.) do one and see if it will work. KISS (keep it simple stupid.)

I was just going to reccomend the same thing Koko...cut the TRE's down so you're using all the trhread you can. That will probably do the trick for you.
