What\'s with the *)(&*^& popups?

I'm really sick of this crap . Almost every time I load a page off this site , I get popups . Any answers ? No, I don't want to have to download the latest version of some popup killer , I'd just like to see the cure to the problem .

I agree with Sammi. Run Mozilla firefox. It will run side by side IE if you want. Jim

Re: What\'s with the *)(&*^& popups?

Sarge..whether you like it or not the cure for popups is a popup blocker. There are several ways to go about this.

You can run an alternative browser like some others hve suggested, you can download any of the freebie popup blockers available (google and yahoo toolbars also have them) or if you run windows xp, you can get service pack 2 which incorporates a popup blocker into internet exploder.

popups are advertising and advertising is a fact of life if you want free programming.

Netscape 4.79, no popups. not many avitars either, but for ORC this works. not
all pis come up, but most do. also will run side by side with Exploder.

I still get popups from time to time on here and I am running SP2 with pop-up blocker enabled. No problems on other sites...just this one

Re: What\'s with the *)(&*^& popups?

Pop-ups are a total invasion of privacy -- the same as if a salesman just walked in your living room and started in with his pitch - disturbing you. What would you do then? It's called Justifiable Homicide!

Make sure you NEVER buy ANYTHING that advertises by pop-up invasion. Maybe they'll get the hint.

Same with telemarketers!

Re: What\'s with the *)(&*^& popups?

Unfortunately, they don't get it after all . I have spoken to a couple of vendors that sponsor popups , they even admitted to it . They just don't seem to care , if one idiot responds to that ad they have done their job . Same with telemarketers . I actually paid a siding company in a local city a visit after they just refused to stop calling late at night . I rent , in a brick building with walls that are 2' thick , no siding needed here . After the visit , no more phone calls , lol . I'd would love nothing more than to get my hands on a few spammers and make an example out of them , not to mention the wonderful scum that write virus programs . Kind of similar to my take on capitol punishment , one should make a career out of torture first . I run IE6 on Win98SE , so I'm open game to all the crap out there . Funny thing is , this is the only site I have regular problems with . Guess I'll just stop visiting here .....
