front end shake on my Zuk....any ideas why????

When I get to around 40mph in my Zuk the front end will shake pretty bad...I either have to speed up or slow down alittle to get it to stop shaking. It just really started this a few weeks ago when my stabilizer bracket that hooks to my drop pitman arm broke. So is the stabilizer not being hooked up the problem or is it something else that could be wrong that is only being amplified since the bracket broke??

I am hoping it is a wheel out of balance....but thought I would ask to see what a few causes might be.

Also does anyone make a stronger bracket for the stabilizer???I have been going through about 1 a year now...

It is most likely a tire balance problem. Rotate your tires and see if the front end shake goes away. Check your steering linkage for any bent pieces.

could also be a slightly bent rim. and it doesn't have to be a front one to show up as a vibration up front.

Yep, wheel is out of balance, my ZUk has the same problem. I keep ripping the wheel weights off the Swampers, and they do that frequently. Balance them and it'll bring it out. I am welding my wheel weights on next time.

If that doesn't do it (but I am confident it will) here is a page on vehicle vibrations. The rest of them are here.

Do get the stablizer fixed, It is essential on zukes to keep the death wobble
under control unless you get really lucky.

Re: front end shake on my Zuk....any ideas why????

I plan too real soon....Im am going to try and fab one up that wont break like the weak stock ones do. I have heard from several people having the bracket breaking using drop pitman arms ....must be putting it at a weird angle or something...because I havent been hard on it since 99% of the driving is on road since this is my DD. I was hoping maybe someone had come out with a stronger one.

Thanks for the reply guys.....I will get the tires rebalanced and get the bracket fixed and see how it goes.
