OT---How long will battery last with 200 watt load

How long will an 8D deep cycle battery that has 1725 CCA and 450 Reserve amps last when a 200 watt load is applied----assuming a full charge and a new condition battery?

Re: OT---How long will battery last with 200 watt load

An average 8D deep cycle battery is 200 amp hours. The formula for figuring out the run time is (10 X amp hours) / Load Power (watts) = Run Time in Hours. Under ideal conditions at 80 degrees C you should get 10 hours. This will decrease each time it is recharged (cycled) until you reach the batteries cycle life. The higher the discharge the shorter the life cycle. Temperature also effects the capacity. The graph below shows the adjustments:

Capacity vs. Temperature

Re: OT---How long will battery last with 200 watt load

Don't want to be an ass but the formula shouln't be something like:

200Watts/12Volts = 16.66666Amp
200Amp/Hours /16.6667Amp = 12Hours

Im just guessing it, cause I dont understand where you get your 10 from

Batteries don't live out there lives in a straight line. as the charge is consumed the voltage will drop. You never really get the full rated capacity.

Always believed your only an ass if you don't ask questions when your not sure about something.

Amp Hours for 12 volt batteries are calculated based on total amps consumed in a 10 hour period in order to drain the battery to 10.5 volts, clinically dead. Total Amps / 10 = Amp Hours. To calculate the run time you need the total number of amps the battery has available, in this case 10 X 200 = 2000. Here is an URL that will do the calculations for you http://www.xantrex.com/support/howlong.asp
