My Samurai Quit Running

My wife and I were on our way home from a date at 11:30 at night when there was a big white electrcal flash. There was no smell of anything burnt just a flash and off it went. Checked it out the next day and found 7 blown fuses and a burnt circit board in the control mod. Replaced all of that including the exterior wireing harness, (found some wires fused together) but it still wont start? Only cranks over. Any one with any idea's or have ever heard of anything like this before?

Try the fuseable link between your battery and your alt. I bet that it is burnt also. You can add in a replaceable fuse, or another fuseable link for under $5.00. HTH

Re: My Samurai Quit Running

If it was the fuseable link, it wouldn't turn over.

Are you getting spark? pull the coil wire out of the disty and crank it. Ff it won't arc to an engine ground with say a 1/4" gap or so, (not a critical distance) look at the coil and the disty guts. You might also try disconnecting the ECU, that will isolate the ECU in case its fried and grounding every thing.

Any idea what blew? If you don't find that, it could happen again. I would suspect a short in the freid section of the harness, but...
