16 valve timing problems

Gotta a problem I need to fix fast. How do I check the timing on the 1.6 16 valve? It is firing but just hickuping and the exhaust smells wierd. I know this is a timing problem. I need to get to gonzookin. Any good instructions or where to find markings for tdc? Also, what are the two sensors attached to the front of the intake manifold. Their are two vac sensors, and the one on the left is broken. Thanks.

Re: 16 valve timing problems

two check the timming there is a connector with a rubber cover located near the r/f side of the fire wall yu need to jumper the d and e terminals these are the 2 terminals on the oposie side of the latch on the connector.(you will ubderstans when you see). the 2 solenoids that you are descibing sound like the evap solenoid that purges the charcoal canister. set the timing to 6 degrees. the pulley has a small notch cut in it on the inner portion of the p/s grove on the crank pulley
