easy 1600 swap question

i have searched plenty of the nearly endless posts dealing with 1600 8v engine swaps into samurais but i am still unclear what motor mounts work best for this swap.

most of the posts say that everyone is using a vendor kit and the mounts really are not mentioned. buying a kit does not apply to me since i am using the trackick trans and t-case also. i know the old school way before the new fancy kits were available was:

drivers side- use 1.3 mount with 1.6 engine bracket, and a shim.
pass side- use the 1.6 mount and it worked ok.

this set up did not work perfect, but it was usable.

what is the concensous now days on engine mounts to use to get a 1600 8v into a 88 samurai? i have no problem buying new mounts if that is what is suggested. thanks for an info!

Re: easy 1600 swap question

I don't think that the motor mount is really a problem. I bet that you can buy a set of motor mount adapters from one of our friendly vendors without having to buy the transmission adapter part.

Check out Trail Tough, North Coast and the other usual suspects for this kind of a deal. I imagine that it won't be very expensive and it'll fit perfectly.

Your problem is going to be the transmission end of the deal which is going to require a bit of fabbing since you indicate that you'll be using the trackkick transmission and tcase.

But fabbing is part of the fun of it, right?

Fabbing a metal top for the Pinz, I remain,
