Auto trans, which one?

I need to convert my Sammi to an auto for health reasons. What I need to know is which year 2wd Tracker auto trannies are not computer/electronic controlled. I can get a good deal on a engine/trans combo but need to know which years don't have electronic shifting.

The diff is 3 speed vs 4 speed. you will want the 3 speed.
all 4 speed are comp tranmissions. (beat you randy!)

damm, why arent you at work?

you can use a 4WD transmission if you can pony up the $600 for OTT's Kicker3 but you gain a dual T-case. If you do go with the auto, post any questions, there are a few issues to overcome, nothing major.

Re: Auto trans, which one?

Can't afford the Kicker3 right now, wishlist item, but am definately going with the auto. Since I hate body lifts and refuse to use them, I understand there is quite a bit of sheetmetal mods with a BFH needed and some sawsall work. I also know I'll need a custom intermediate shaft. Any tips on the install will be appreciated. I know Sean, Aftermarket 4X4, wrote an article when he did his, but no one seems to have a copy anymore.

Re: Auto trans, which one?

I got it in without a body lift or cutting, I widened it with the scissor jack a bit. I kinda over did it but if you take your time it will almost look stock. Do you have a 1.6? I dont know if it will work with the 1.3. Do your gearing math carefully (diffs or T-case), third gear auto is equil to 4th gear manual.

Re: Auto trans, which one?

I'm getting a 1.6 8V and the 2wd auto as a package. They have a couple of them, that's why I needed to know which ones would work. I plan on getting the one with the lowest millage.

For the time being I'll have to stay with the stock tcase and gears. Gotta get some bills paid off before I spend anymore money.
