Remote Oil Filters

I have a'87 Samurai, and I have a remote oil filter set up that will fit. I was wondering about where to locate the filter. It seems like if the filter in above the stock location, the oil will drain back into the pan. Does this leave air space in the lines? Does it matter if the filter is horizontal or vertical?

Re: Remote Oil Filters

Sorry, Board wouldn't let me post last couple of days.
I mounted mine to a piece of angle bolted to the scissor jacj bracket. I wouls suggest vertical, withe filter under the mount, or open end up. This way there's less mess when you change filters.
Shouldn't matter which way, as it's pressure fed.
Air locks aren't a prob. My filter remains full of oil as it is open end up and fed from the top.
