custom axle update

Well these are some custom 9" now that we are done with them.
specs 9" centers, tubes shortened for the zuk stance, d-44 knuckles, flat toped, drilled tapped and our new reverse tie rod arms.
chromoly inners 1.3205 diameter 31 spline. New spring pads both front and rear housings clearanced 1.125" and plated. the bottoms are just under 1/2" thick now. also full detroits front and rear with 5:14 gears. I still have to make a new tie rod which is setup for .75-.625 chromoly heims. Thanx to Rock buggy for getting me the heims on time and Tony K for getting me the longer studs, for my arms. And I made the conical washers. after the arms came off the mill

side shot

rotated calipers and new rock 4X arms

front axle partially assembled

new conical washer we made

new spring pads

clearanced and plated front axle gained 1.25" on the rear section and plate is just under 1/2" thick

Oh and a new rear cage mounting area

Re: custom axle update

THese axles are for samidavis, I do believe he has a 1.3L in crunchy. The axles were originally built for an article that was published in petersons, when they built 3 zuks a few years ago. Greg happened across one of them and purchaced the axles for a great price, but they had been abused. The rear short axle actualy has a twist in it at the splines. But thats what wil hapen with a full detroit. I am trying to document it as well as possable to try and send an article back into them. sort of like a then and now.
