What tires/wheels are you sporty zook guys running

Hey guys, I know several of you guys here have built street rod samurais. With rotaries and gti engines ect. I am also building such a ride and am trying to figure out what tires and wheels to go with. right now it has the stock rims with P205/75 R15 I would like to run a 17 or 18 inch rim but am wondering what size tire/what backspacing/ and how wide a rim and tire I should use. What are you guys running? Thanks

The only thing I have ever seen anyone on this board do in relation to street rod samis is make fun of them. After all, this is OFFROAD.COM, ya know? Seems like most of the high power engine swap were done to push taller/wider tires, not compete in SCCA Solo II.

This is not to say there isn't some potential cool factor in building a racy sami. I have seen (like you said) some pretty hairy powerplants and drivetrains in samis on here, I just dont think they were members of this board.

Wouldn't it stand to reason that the same general rules of tire sizing would work, ya know, the +1 or +2 things with proportionate aspect ratio reduction to increased rim size? I know there's some funky tire calc things on line that can do the math for you to go up in rim size. I'll see if I can find one and post back.

Yeah I know it's an off-road bbs. But this is the only bbs I trust. I mean man I've been on here for so many damn years. I know there are a few guys on here running street rod zooks. I think xfactor and nowhere are 2 of them. I usually build off-road rigs but I bought this super clean 2wd with a few custom pieces for $1000. Here in Chicago a rust free rig is near impossible. So I just figure I'll build it 2wd and do the street rod thing. This will hopefully hold me over till I find the right LWB to build.

Re: What tires/wheels are you sporty zook guys running

On my new rig I am running 16.5" rims stuffed with Stazworks double beadlocks and fitted with 39.5 IROKs. That's not what you wanted is it?

I ran Yokohama A520's on my street racer Honda, then they stopped making them... then I ran Michelin X prototype (cant remember the model) race tires. What the cars ran at Limerock... actually that is where I got them... They stopped making them too. So eventually I went to z rated Dunlop's for the street and drag radials for the track.

All in all I'd much rather buy what I have presently; BFG MT's or IROKs for my Sammy.
