Yes, bearings and you should replace the seals as well. It is not that bad a job. Only pressing the new bearings on may be a challenge, but I know some people on the board did it with a pipe.

It seems like I remember people freezeing the shaft over night or something and the contracting made the wheel bearings fall right off....

It is really easy job.
just make sure when you are taking off the old bearings you don't nick the shaft...very important.

I used a dremel to cut the bearings off, when I got close to the shaft, I used a wide screw driver (one I did not care about) and gave it a small whack with the hammer, and pop the bearing finished coming off.

as for the press, I just took them down to NAPA auto parts, some of them have a little shop in the back, they pressed them on for a few bucks, nice and easy.

hope this helps.

Re: Help!, I think i need wheel bearings opinions?

I noticed that Trail Tough sells a Bearing kit, But their kit comes with Bearings, Shim, retainer and Seal, well i just picked up my bearings and seal tonight at the parts store, Do i need this shim and retainer, or is the Retainer part of the Bearing. I bought the BCA (federal Mogul) bearings 511002, Because the Instructions that i have read have said to grind off the Retainer???

I believe the retainer is a metal ring that goes next to the bearing, but it has been a while. You'll need that.

Yes you will need the retainer, and I am not sure where you can get it...
when I did my bearings in the back I bought kit from TT.
I don't remember, but I think I reused the shims, but not sure..

That BCA bearing number should have the retainer built into it . If you look, one side of the inner collar sticks out farther , that side faces to the wheel side or outside . That offset replaces the older style bearing with a seperate spacer ring .

Isn't it pretty, I pulled the Shaft today, I got a used Axle so i am just going to Swap the axle shafts then i can drive it, then fix the bearing, and keep repeating the process

And i found my Henry Ford Slide Hammer
that my grandpa gave me a few years ago forgot all about until recently
