Mustang Radiator?

I was reading that the 68 mustang radiator fits in a samurai. I was wondering what kind of modification it takes to get it to fit and also what years of mustangs did this 3 core rad come in. Is it only 68, or is there other years it comes in.

Thanx Brandon

Re: Mustang Radiator?

The '68 mustang with the 6.4L V8 rad will fit. Not sure what you would need to get it to fit right? Here is a pic...

I'm also looking into either the Ford radiator or a 1983 Jeep Cherokee with the 5.8L V8 It has a 3 or 4 core radiator. Might have to cut the side flanges to get it to fit right? I got this info off of Hemogoblin.
Here is a web-site that has the pic's and sizes for ya... Click here
I went to Advanced Auto Parts here in Columbus and they have a NEW Ford Mustang radiator (part # 43-3379) for $268.88
And the Jeep Cherokee radiator (part #43-3581) is only 204.88
I'm thinking about getting the Cherokee one, and make it work. That is all I need is a new radiator and I'll be good to go!
Hope this helps ya out

Re: Mustang Radiator?

An even easier fit is the 65 Mustang rad with the 4.7L V8. It's taller but more narrow and fits easily between the frame rail and steering box.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Mustang Radiator?

Thanx for the info, where did you get the pic from? Is there a pic like that with all the specs for a 65 mustang?

Re: Mustang Radiator?

only bad thing about the 65 (for me) is the outlet (bottom) hose fitting is on the wrong side. Can't remember what side the stock samurai radiators outlet was on?

Re: Mustang Radiator?

If you facing the engine, its on the left hand side. I run the 68 3 core HD rad. Cant compliment much on the install cause mine is in the back
