what are everyone\'s spring projects?

warmer temps are finally here for us northerners which means it is time to slave to the bone getting all the projects that should have been done in the winter completed.

so far i have:
-replaced my dd geo metro engine
-refreshed the top end on my pickup
-fixed and trying to sell a dakota pickup
-ordered and recieved pro-tools 105 bender and 240* 1-3/4" dies set

whats left:
-reorganize my garage and build some heavy steel racking to hold all my spare parts
-build a stand for the bender and bolt it to the garage floor
-part out a geo tracker
-install tracker engine into wife's zuk
-install new flooring in the living room
-prepare an extra bedroom in the house in anticipation of our "newest edition" to our family
-fab up a front bumper, rocksliders, and full rollcage for my trail zuk

plus lots other other little things.

curious what everyone else is or will be working on for projects....

Re: what are everyone\'s spring projects?

Let's see-

1.6 16valve swap for my current 1.3
Swap out seats with a pair I just got off ebay
Swap yotas in and YJ's with 5.29's and lockers
Rhinoline the tub
Finish tire carrier installation and paint
Sell old lift, axles, rims, lockers etc
Searching to buy a house in the mean time with the girlfriend but property is hard to come by here for under $250k with what we need (which is place to put her grandmother).
Among a host of other small things...

Re: what are everyone\'s spring projects?

For the SJ410, I've promised the kids I would gather/buy/steal the rest of the parts needed to put it back together again. Need to order the shifter and at least one motor mount by this Friday to stay off their sh!t list.

For the Sammi, need to swap out the existing tranny with the one I just rebuilt, figure out where all the oil is going (no leaks + high consumption, time for compression testing!), and come up with the final decision on SPOA or SPUA for the YJ springs sitting in the garage. Might alos consider pulling the t-case and putting lower gears in there, but that will be a budget decision. Guess I should file my tax return to get some $$

Re: what are everyone\'s spring projects?

All I have to do this year is install my Dana 44 under the rear of my Zuk and I should be ready to go. Oh yeah, and buy a trailer for my Zuk so I don't have to wear out my boggers driving to the woods.

Re: what are everyone\'s spring projects?

My projects for this spring/summer are:

- Replace IFS box with FJ-60.
- Make a traction bar.
- Rebuild noisy/leaky tranny
- Make a new cage (tired of the old one).
- Rebuild the 1.6 (maybe.....).

After that, I have to transform my new 91 2wd stocker into a hunting rig. It'll have 5.13's with birfield rings, lockers f&r, 32 mudders, some type of t-case and ??

Re: what are everyone\'s spring projects?

The shower in the master bath needs to be installed - solid surface base & wall panels. No more leaky ceramic tile for me!
Fab and install new master vanity solid surface counter top, sink bowls & custom cabinet.
Install new ceramic tile floor in these areas.
Install custom 6" baseboard & crown moulding in MB.
Install new door units in MB areas.
Now down stairs rip out the powder room particle board subfloor & replace with plywood.
Hang new drywall in powder room - walls & ceiling!
Finish drywall.
Have wife paint drywall, forget that she can't run the airless sprayer. She can paint all the new crown, base & chair rail mouldings.
Install new ceramic floor tile in powder room.
Fab and install new vanity solid surface counter top, sink bowl & custom walnut cabinet.
Install new carpet in the hallway after I replace, you guessed it, more subfloor.
Install custom storage panels in foyer coat closet & install new floor in there too.
Do all this in 60 days before my daughter graduates and we have a big party!

Oh did you mean Zuk stuff?

Well then.......on the '88 - install my Neon seats, rebuild the front end - wheel bearings, felts etc, trim out my Lexan door panels and install them, build a hitch mount cargo platform to haul deer outta the woods, fix that rust spot by the gas cap, build a custom battery box for the Odyssey battery, rebuild that spare cylinder head & install it, track down & solve a rough idle issue, new 2" exhaust sytem, find & fix a leak in the AC system.
Now for the tin top it needs a heater core, repair windsheild frame around wiper arms, replace front bumper, replace rear tail light lens, fix a few tiny rust holes around drip rail area of roof, fab up a new battery tray / inner fender panel since the original fell apart, body work on the hood & hood front support / latch panel, round up an AC compressor, condensor & fan and install them since the previous owner took it all out and threw it all away.
Dang that's way more work than I realized. Sheet fire man I gotta get busy.......see ya!
