Electric Fuel Pump Wiring

The new engine I installed in my Samurai has no provison for a mechanical fuel pump, so I must install an electric one. The pump instructions call for an Oil Pressure Safety Switch, but no one at any parts stores I have been to know what one is, not even the place where I bought the pump. Does anyone know a part number for the safety switch or any other information on wiring up the fuel pump? Thanks.

Joe

Thanks, I'll see if I can find one. They can't say there is no such thing if I have a part number.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Wiring

Those switches are nothing more than an oil pressure switch . The ports in the engines are metric thread , 1/8x28BSP . There is an adapter available for around $5 that will convert to the 1/8"x27NPT SAE size to use with standard oil senders . I have a 3psi switch here and some adapters if you need them ... the switch is just wired inline to kill the power to the pump when the oil pressure drops . You will need a bypass switch if there is no oil pressure to start or no fuel in the bowl , ect .
