Tubing

OK I know it's best to get tubing in one piece but I don't have a tubing bender and am wanting to make a set of rock sliders for the sides of my Zuk and possible a over the top rails as well. I do have a welder and am pretty Good with it though NOT a pro.
Question is ~~ Does any one sell Pre bent and straight Pisces of tubing that can be welded together to do this with?? IS 304 stainless strong enough for this ? If not what is the min. size recommended?

Re: Tubing

Larry I dont recommend S/S for anything that will take hits like a slider s/s is nice but it is Brittal. As far as prebent give me dimension of what you want and i can bend them up and send them out.

Re: Tubing

Go to harbor freight and buy the cheepest pipe bender they have. Use pipe or tubing for your side rails and bend with the pipe bender. Do not use pipe for the roll bars.

Re: Tubing

Here's another idea, I saw an excellent posting about making rocker guards out of 1/4 inch thick, 4 inch wide angle iron. The guards look clean and simple, very strong. They cover the entire rocker panel up to about an inch below the door. Mounting brackets are the same material and attach to to the body mount arms on the frame. A little adapting, you could add hoops to these. I'm going to build some of these someday. I don't have a link for this site, it may not be on ORC. I'll find it for you if you're interested.

Re: Tubing

I did that, the angle iron thing. I've also made a couple sets for people who emailed me asking about em. They work great. You can see a pic of them here:
