soft top exchange for hard top question?????

Hey all. A buddy of mine has a 87 sammy with a hard top. The removeable top. He has had an offer to trade it for a new soft top. My question is, is that a smart move givin he wants a soft top? Should he just keep the hard top or try to sell it? What is the hard top really worth?

Any input would be very cool.
Thanks

Re: soft top exchange for hard top question?????

Removeable Hard tops are hard to come by, at least here in Ohio. I've been looking for a hard top that I can use in the winter, and switch over to soft in the summer.
Don't know? I've seen new hard tops go for around $700, and used ones around $2-400, new soft tops tops are cheap.

Just another thought, the sammy he bought for a few hundred bucks, has a blown motor. Would it be out of the relm to maybe try to trade the hard top for a motor? He really doesnt need to hard top out her is Southern Cal.
