Consumers Union Targets the Samurai

I don't know if this website has been posted here but it's pretty good reading.

http://www.suzuki-consumersunion.com/

BTW, my father bought Samurai #1 in April 1988, only to have it slammed a month later by Consumer Distorts and see it's resale value cut in half. Also, every other @sshole on the street come up to us and start asking if it had been flipped over yet.

Most current Samurai owners don't realize this but before this story, the Samurai was widely regarded as an economical and dependable alternative the Jeep Wrangler/CJ-7. It had actually received many favorable reviews. After the story, it was considered a piece of "jap crap,"-the Suzuki Suicide. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Maybe the Samurai will be vindicated after all.

The proud owner of five (!) Samurais.

Re: Consumers Union Targets the Samurai

Some people, including ASMC, only guess what CU's motive was to "skew" the testing data.

If you investigate a murder, and have no suspects, then you examine who would benefit from the murder and why.

You need to look at the other 3 vehicles that were part of the test. An Izuzu, a Ford, and the new 1988 Jeep Wrangler. At first tests, the Sammy came out on top of everybody. After the skew, it ended dead last.

Who benefits most from the "murder"?

Jeep...there's only one.

Re: Consumers Union Targets the Samurai

Of course they'll deny it - a friend that owned a manufacturing business was approached by Consumer Distorts - they wanted to do an article.
They told him if he wanted a "good" report it would "cost him" big bucks - cash.
He threw the guy out, wishing he'd recorded the "offer." Of couse no mention of the "offer" was made in his office, it was done outside where it probably wouldn't be recorded.

Remember - PAPER DOES NOT REJECT INK!

Why is it the government doesn't look into it?
Just one word --- "Offers."

Ever see an honest politician (still alive?)
Still looking for one.
