need some general carb help-chev 3.8L help

Ok I am buying this suzuki samurai with a 3.8L chev motor. no carb on it though. Looked around and found a holley 2B for the specific motor for like $400.00. But I have heard people just put a 305 or 350 stock holley carb on it and they do fine. I can find tons of those way cheaper then $400.00. I have never delt with carbs alot so I am wondering if they are very vehicle specific or will a 2B chevy carb pretty much bolt to any 2B chevy intake??????
thanks for any help you could give, I think I'll post in the chevy forum as well.

Re: need some general carb help-chev 3.8L help

Well, it would fit but would kill that poor 3.8L in a hurry . First off , that is a chokeless modified carb for racing . Second, they modify the snot out of them to get the flow up and they do not perform well on the street . Wide open is all they are meant to run . I will mention it to some local racers, they are always on the lookout for those carbs for the Sportsman class in IMCA racing here ....
