03 Vitara lift

Question.

Are the stock suspension, arms and half shafts and steering abel to handle 2inch longer coils with old Man Emu struts? This is all I would like to do until the warrenty expires. Any help would be great

Thanks.

Clay

Re: 03 Vitara lift

Hey CLay,

I am not sure on the 99 and newer vitaras, but I know you can get a little lift on a pre-99 tracker by either using coil spacers like dparker mentioned (TJs work but need to have the bumpstop hole enlarged) or going to longer springs from a Grand Vitara, which provide 2" of lift.

It is my understanding from doing a lot of research on this topic recently that 2" is about the limit for the stock components (A arms and stuff). With 2" it is a good idea to flip the top mounting 'cups' for the struts to restore some downtravel, but the OME struts are probably longer. You will need a good alignment of the front end with any amount of lift.

Hope this helps.

Re: 03 Vitara lift

Yea I currently have 1.5inch spacer on the front the back are always out of stock. The Old Man Emu struts are supposed to be longer so you don't need the spacer. I am going with the BDS coils because the OME only lift it like 1.5inch. My goal is to clear 235/75/15. I am ordering them next month so we'll see what happens. When is everybody getting togather? This project would be good for me to do with some people that are good and have lots of knowleged with Zuki's.
