Another Zuk? (kinda long)

I was stopped at a red light on Friday, on my way to work, when a guy jumped out of his car and ran up to my zuk to tell me how much he liked it.

He then said that he had a '91, that was in mint condition, but some bee-otch rear ended him.

Light turned green, and he jumped back into his car.

He caught up to me at the next red light, and gave me his telephone number and asked me if I wanted to come take a look at it.

Later that evening I called him, then met him at his house. What a shame. The zuk was in perfect condition, and the paint looked like it did back in '91. Back end was a little messed up, but what concerned me was the front. The impact of this woman hitting him slid him off the road, and into a telephone pole. The motor looks fine (he had the radiator off), the fan spun ok, but the frame on the drivers side was tweeked a bit, right by the steering box.

We talked for quite a while, he checked out my zuk a bit more, then I gave him a list of websites for aftermarket vendors, and my telephone #.

Yesterday he left me a voicemail to say that he didn't have the time or money for another project, and he was going to sell or part out the zuk. I'm sure that he would let it go really cheap.

I wasn't really looking for another one, but...

Good points :

#1. Almost rust free (hard to find in NJ)

#2. Fuel injected 1.3

#3. Original factory storage box behind the rear seat (cool dealer option I haven't seen before)

#4. 4 tires with less than 2000 miles on them (stock, but they could be worth a couple bucks)

#5. Cheap

#6. Newer style dash, tranny, and springs

Bad points :

#1. 2 wheel drive! (although I have a spare T-case & front driveshaft, and a stock front axle shouldn't be hard to find)

#2. Frame damage

So what do you think? Is this one worth saving? Zuks are getting rarer and rarer by the day, and I would hate to see another one scrapped.

No comments on this one?

If I don't take it, would anybody else be interested in it?

Depending on how cheap, and your situation for another vehicle, jump on it.

PM me the price... might be worth getting for the engine and some parts since the streeter engine might be is on its way OUT.

It all depends on the price!

Re: Another Zuk? (kinda long)

Well, it looks like I'm going to take it. Even though I really wasn't looking for another addition to the current zuk family, $200 for a fuel injected '91 is just a little to good to pass up.

I think this one is going to be "project daily driver", with a focus on ride quality. Still capable off road, but no lockers / gears etc. My wife says this one is going to be hers, so this may even be a good way to intoduce her to my hobby/passion/madness/addiction/disease.

good deal on the efi zuk. it's hard to pass up on a cheap zuk whether it is for parts or a driver.
