EMERGENCY- Need help to get x-case shifting

I'm trying to sell my Sami, and while I was at work someone came to check it out and somehow got the x-case stuck in Nuetral. I'm pretty sure one of the brakes is hanging up, which might be giving me a little driveshaft bind. Also, with the trans in Nuetral and the clutch let out, the shaft that feeds the x-case spins. With the clutch in, this shaft doesn't spin. I've got people coming by to look at the little PITA and I'd like to get it shifting again. The only thing I can think of is to unbolt the driveshafts at the x-case to relieve any possible binding issues and try to get it to shift from there....

Anyone have a more intelligent solution?

Cant you just take the shaft out and then slide into 2hi? The main reason why they lock into N is the shifter sheet, but I'm sure you knew that.

Pull the shifter out & put the shift forks back in-line. Pop the shifter back in & no problem!!

Try a search for this problem-------samurai's are VERY prone to this. Easy fix & a $12 part that EVERY zuk vendor sells.

Brad.

Ah well, it's too late now Guy came with a dolly to look at it and my dad wanted it gone. I couldn't get it out of N and ended up taking $250 for that piece of crap import. This is the only vehicle I've seen where you can't just unclip the shifter from the linkage and manually shift it. It was binding up somehow so we made sure the hubs were unlocked and then he had to unbolt the rear driveshaft so it would roll onto the dolly.

Just a lot of bad luck and bad timing. Typical for me.

Wow, hope you got the flame suit on...

I bet we will see a post from the buyer in a week... "I found this cherry zuk, and I bought it from this moron who couldn't figure out how to change a shifter sheet! $250! What an idiot!!!"

Sorry dude, but you deserve it after that comment.

Re: EMERGENCY- Need help to get x-case shifting

what do you expect from a HEEP owner ( not even a good heep its a p/u ) that calls it a X-case it's a t-case bonehead and you could have used a piece of pvc to add insult to injury ... lastly if you had posted it here for sale you would have got more then 250 just for the tub ...
you're right I don't understand!
