Grand Vitara question

Why does my 2000 Grand Vitara sound like a diesel engine before an oil change ? It has 106000 miles on it . The oil is changed faithfully . After the oil change it's quiet again. I do alot of highway driving. Does the weight and the quality of the oil have anything to do with it ?

Re: Grand Vitara question

dparker is right. if you have the 2.5 v-6 the timing chain tensioner is a bastard to get at too. if you have any questions on the tensioners bobzooki on pirate board has done the replacement.
