Anyone running 33inch tires wider than 12.5 inch?

I am looking to put 33s on my Sami. 31s are just not big enough (now). I have 12.5" wide tires on 10 inch wheels and I see that 33x14 looks like the only other size available?

If you are running 33s, what tcase and or gears do you have?

Thanks

Either the Swamper LTB or TSL also come in a 33x13.5. And of course the Bogger comes in 33x14. Just open a 4wd mag, there are so many advertisements in there for tires and they all list tire sizes. Best of luck!!

Oh, I run 33x14x15 Boggers on my Sammi with a RRO 6:1 t-case. On the trail it is AWESOME!!. On the street I need help! I have a 1.6 8v in there but I really should consider some 4.62's. Maybe too deep though. Woat would be ferfectr though would be the 4.10's in Toy axles. I think this would be the perfect gear for 33's and a 6:1 t-case.

I have the 33X15.50 Swamper SX's:

They are great tires....LOTS of traction!
I run the 5.12 gears with hybrid rear and 4.16 T-case....ho and a 1.6 16 valve.
Tires are for sale $$$$$400 or $550 15X10 w/wheels....3/4 tread front and below 1/2 tread in rear.

I want to say with the 6 to 1 gears and 4.62 gears you will run about 5000 rpm at 65

Sean, those are on 10 inch wheels? You running stock sami axles and have no problem with clearance to the springs? That is mostly what I am concerned about.

My axles have the stock gears and I am running 4.16 t-case. At 70 mph I am about 4300 rpm. I was hoping that by switching to 33s, I would drop my rpms to something like 3500 and still be OK with the 1.6 16v motor??

Btw, I don't want to go with boggers again because they are so damn dangerous on the road when it rains!!

Believe it or not, the Sami is my daily driver, 38 miles a day!

Re: Anyone running 33inch tires wider than 12.5 inch?

The 33X15.50's did rub on the springs on the stock width Samurai front axle so I installed a set of 1.25" wheel spacers which easily cured the problem. They are also alot smoother/quieter on the road than you would think....500% better than a Bogger on the road and almost as good in the mud and awesome in the rocks!
If you run stock differential gearing and just the 4.16 T-case you will be just a little bit under geared, but it would really be fine on the highway. I run 5.12's and the 4.16 t-case and I am really over geared for the highway. Optimally I would recommend running a 4.30 or a 4.62 gear in the diff's. You could also just run all T-case gearing, but that does put alot of stress on the driveline.
