location: IACV & TPS

Hi, Group:

I'm trying to locate these two items on my '96 Tracker (16v). There's something at the back of the motor next to the firewall that looks like the TPS. It is just below the EGR modulator and sort of screws into the intake with two screws. It has a four-wire harness attached to it. I think this is the TPS so I tried locating the IACV but am not sure what I'm looking at under there.

I checked the Hayne's manual which is next to useless because the pictures it has are of different vehicles and merely says to "remove the IACV" without actually saying where it's at. Likewise, to measure the resistance of the TPS, it says something similar like "measure the resistance across the terminals" without specifying where the sensor is.

Please help .... I've been trying to solve an intermittent stalling/extremely low-idle issue. I searched for this information but came up empty handed with the actual descriptive locations .....

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to everyone out there.

Re: location: IACV & TPS

The tps should be located right on the throttle body on the end of the throttle shaft. I don't know about the iacv?

Crazycooter:

Thanks for the reply. After throughly checking and guessing about what I'm seeing in the Hayne's manual, I think you are correct: what I'm seeing at the back of the motor next to the firewall and under the EGR modulator is the TPS. I think the IACV is under the intake pipe on the intake manifold.

I appreciate you posting your answer for me. Thank you.
