fuel pump leak solved

my fuel pump was leaking oil, and with the car being relatively new to me, i was worried that it had been driven for who knows how long with a fuel/oil lubricant. When i changed the oil, it didnt smell like gas at all, but i thought it was a sign that the fuel pump was on its last leg, so i started calling around to get prices. they were around 150 bucks for the pump..which i wasnt eager to pay, but willing, since it was chaper than a full engine rebuild. then i pulled the pcv and found that it was almost completely clogged. after i replaced it, i havent noticed any more oil leaking from the pump.
im still wary of it, and keeping my eye on the oil for fuel, but for now it seems that the pressure had no other way to be released, so it went out the pump....
just thought id throw it out there if anyone with a pump they believe to be failing wants to give it a shot, since a pcv costs about 10 percent the price of a new fuel pump...

Re: fuel pump leak solved

You can get a pump for about a quarter of that price from almost any of the Zuk vendors , most will ship to Canuck Land as well . I'd change that pump out or go with an electric , seems as soon as they start leaking there is a pretty good chance they will fill the engine with gas as well .....
