Lucky 13

After doing some research, I am considering doing the TH180 (chevette) auto swap in my zuki, I have 87 spoa w/30's. Here is my plan i have 1.3 swift twin cam engine (waiting on a carbed intake being built by blue_zuk )i would like to run an auto personally i am sick of dealing with clutches, I have burnt up 2 clutches in a month and my current one slips and smokes! Here is question what parts are needed for the swap, ie flex plate torque converter ect, also curious what others have done with the short shaft. i know i need the a kick bellhousing and the lucky 13 adapter, any other idea/sugestions are welcome.

Ask Kerry. He's on this board. He owns SOS and can best answer your Q's.

Re: Lucky 13

When you get the info from the guy will you please post it here. I (and others I'm sure) are interested in this for the future. I would email him myself but since im not ready right now I would not want to bother him w/ questions not leading to a sale.
Thanks,
F_T

Re: Lucky 13

I was searching for shift kits for the TH180/TH180c.

I found this tranny cross reference chart

I guess the TH180 is also a 3L30??? IF so, the 3L30/TH180/TH180c also appears in the following:

Fiat:
124 (1971-1974)
131 (1975-1981)
Brava, Spider 2000, Mirafiori (1973-1982)

Pontiac:

T1000 (1981-1987)

Rover:

Vitesse (6/1983)
2300/2600 (3/1984)

What does this mean? Who knows...

What I find interesting is the Samurai has a A44OH auto tranny listed, and so does:

Toyota Landcruiser (L1985-1992)

Now, how does the variants of the A44 pan out, and there is a A44, A44OH, A44D, A44L, A442F in other Toy Trucks and Vans.

This could mean two things (in theory). Are there Toy drivetrains that would bolt up to the Sammy bellhousings, or better, Toy motors/Bellhousings that bolt to the Sammy tranny?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Lucky 13

I think Randy stumbled into this kind of relative info too... It would be cool to find out more especially with that Toyota stuff.

Re: Lucky 13

The th180 is a non-converted lock up trans,
the 3L30 has a converter lockup.
(This only really is noticed when on the highway and the converter will lock up it should feel like it just upshifted.)

The are the same transmission otherwise.

Now TH180 options WAS Re: Lucky 13

TH180 to 700R4 conversion

Interesting...

CHECK THIS OUT! Go to page 3, with lots of info on the TH180 to the 4L30E evolution! Wow, if the 4L30E is basically a TH180, then do more engine & tranny swaps exist? Is it all in the Bellhousings that mate the varing combos? Hmmmmmm....

Here some info on shifting problems with the Tracker/Kick 3L30

I'll find more...

Re: Lucky 13

a couple of quick calls to the yard dogs and i am told that chevettes have a couple different auto trannys. the one that i think might work has a removable bellhousing which would be replaced by the track/kick bell housing. this is the th180...the one that in theory should work.

the other they claim was a th200 or something like that and does NOT have a removable bellhousing. something to think about if you go to purchase one from an auto dismantler.

this is all very interesting...keep the info coming!

Re: Lucky 13

I learned the TH180C is the lock-up version of the TH180.
