80 Firebird MC rod mod?

When installing a 1980 Firebird master cylinder, do I need to do anything to the stock Sammy pushrod (called actuator rod?)(lengthen or shorten it) ?
TIA

Re: 80 Firebird MC rod mod?

According to a friend of mine that I recommended the swap to:

You have to clearance the mounting holes and redo the lines to the MC. The lines were an unexpected PITA since he was anticipating a "drop in".

That's the advantage of the Firebird MC vs. the ranger and others, you don't have to adjust the actuator rod.

Re: 80 Firebird MC rod mod?

Thanks for the info guys. Just wondering, does it matter if I get normal MC (front discs w/rear drums) or the 4 wheel disc MC?
TIA

Re: 80 Firebird MC rod mod?

I have never herd of doing this before. Why I guess is my first question. I was thinking of going to disks in the rear and wondering if my stock mc would need to be changed if I did. Is this why, because it is bigger/better? Is there any good info/writeups out there for this swap?
