Re: Good Reason To Use Dielectric Grease ........

Good idea Crow, I usually use a fair bit of it whenever I'm doing anything electrical.
Its worth mentioning though, for those who may not use any.

I pack my electrics with petroleum jelly, works for me and its easy to get hold of. Always did it on my bikes which were despatched so they were ridden through salt 8-12 hours a day.

I use dielectric grease for everything electronic!!
I wish it came in something larger than those little micro tubes!!

Crow,

For those of me who are uneducated... could you please explain what happened and how the grease helped what happened not happen?

(as for right now my diagnosis is "Dilectric grease keeps wire terminals from turning brown")

Re: Good Reason To Use Dielectric Grease ........

I believe the purpose of dielectric grease is to protect the connection points on electrical devices from exposure to external sources of corrosion (salt in the air, water, mud, etc.) without adding electrical resistance to the conducting junction of the connection itself.
